Anything else?

It is my final year at The Catholic University of America, where I am majoring in Politics and am enrolled in the Intelligence Certificate program. Since transferring to Catholic University following my graduation from Harford Community College with my AS in Political Science, I have been eager to find a career that allows me to grow as a person and serve the public. I have worked and volunteered in many positions relevant to the duties required for this position. The first example is playing on the Catholic University Varsity Football Team. As a student-athlete, it is a constant struggle to balance the life of an athlete and practice well into the night with morning lifts with being a student. We practiced, had meetings, and lifted well over twenty hours weekly. This led to success in the form of the program's first post-regular season game since 2008. While participating in sports, I have also held myself to a high standard in the classroom. Even if I had to miss class because of traveling to an away game, I would make sure to attempt to join the class via Zoom, and if that were not an option, I would meet with my professors outside of the course during office hours. Another example is Interning in the Maryland General Assembly; throughout my time in the office, I answered phone calls, responded to emails, worked on constituent service requests. One such bill was a tax credit for veterans to help them with their living expenses. Another duty, and the one that I take the most pride in, was assisting with the Veterans Caucus, which worked tirelessly to support veterans in the state of Maryland. Working within the office on behalf of the Delegate, his staff, and the people he represents allowed me to improve people's lives. This is something I want to strive for in my career and life. I have also worked on numerous political campaigns. This includes both County level positions and State level positions. One such example is the Friends of Andre Johnson political campaign. The candidate was running for a State Delegate position within the campaign. I was a leader creating turf (lists of doors to knock on), and I walked and knocked on 70 - 100 doors each day. Another campaign was for Delegate Pat Young, who ran for a County Council position. As with Delegate Andre Johnson, I also created turf, knocked on doors, and led volunteers in phone banking and the get-out-to-vote effort. In both elections, each candidate won. I have participated in six political campaigns to this point. Before working on political campaigns, I have also volunteered at the Harford County Board of Elections as a poll worker. This allowed me to help voters check into their polling locations and assist with any problems that may have arisen during early voting and election day. Along with this cover letter, my resume has been submitted as well. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask. I appreciate your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Sincerely, Charles Alevato
