I would greatly appreciate the opportunity and am confident that I would be an asset to your organization given my educational background and substantial and substantive experience with Hudson Strategies Group helping political campaigns at every level of state politics. I recently graduated with a degree in political science pre-law from Michigan State University. I have focused my educational pursuits with the goal of working in public policy and politics. I have also supplemented my academic learning with real world experience as an intern for political campaigns such as Kevin Rinke for Governor and John James for Congress. As an intern for numerous political campaigns, I had the unique challenge of navigating politics during a highly contested midterm election year. During my time with Hudson Strategies Group, I was assigned to Kevin Rinke’s campaign for governor as my first experience in politics. I regularly made voter contact whether it be via the phone, email or public events across the state of Michigan. I provided insight into what Kevin stood for and how he was planning on improving the state of Michigan. I grasped a lot during my time with the entire Rinke team which eventually led me to become a political consulting intern on other campaigns in Michigan. After my internship with Kevin Rinke for Governor, I pursued an internship with former Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land. This was primarily a research-based internship. I researched and wrote briefs regarding all the declared Michigan House of Representatives candidates at the time, with the purpose of maintaining a Republican majority during the 2022 midterm election cycle. This position also allowed me to start conducting legislative research regarding the three ballot initiatives during the cycle which were proposition one, two and three which regarded voter ID laws, a women’s right to choose, and term limits in the state legislature. These research skills have proven useful in my studies, and I believe they would also be helpful in the position I am seeking with your organization.
