Anything else?

I am in search of a remote opportunity that aligns with my beliefs. With 11 years of experience in marketing and communications, I’ve spent my career in the business of shaping public opinion. I spent the first part of my career working as comms director for South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard, who was the most popular governor in the U.S. during his second term. I developed messaging for issues ranging from disaster response and state pension funding to education standards and infant mortality; and I oversaw the work of communicators in the various state agencies. As the Governor’s second term was ending, I made a move to Nebraska with my husband so he could pursue a Doctorate in Dentistry. I joined a 100-year-old ad agency with a reputation for excellence in public relations and instantly knew the sink-or-swim atmosphere was for me. As I found my way in the ad industry, I was able to secure national headlines for my clients with outlets like the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, and the New York Times. My boss noticed my can-do attitude and work ethic and I went from mid-level to manager to member of the senior leadership team in short order. My family made a move to South Dakota last summer for my husband to join a dental practice and I began working for a land development, real-estate, and construction business. Helping the company through a rebrand and developing their communications strategy has been enjoyable. But with an hour commute to the office, I am finding little time to be there for my two young boys. Ten years ago, when I interviewed for my first job with Governor Daugaard, my future boss asked me: “Where do you want to be long-term?” I told him my goal was to do something to advance conservatism. I think it’s time I get back to that.
