Dear Hiring Manager, I am a strong writer, I take my conservative values extremely seriously, and I am looking to make my mark on the culture war. I was raised in a conservative, Christian home where politics were often a central focus. My father, Randy Tate, a former member of congress (R-WA-9) and Executive Director of Christian Coalition, encouraged Christian values and educated me in conservative ideas. While politics were at the forefront of our family’s identity, I was always encouraged to learn and develop my own opinions. This dedication to conservative values and the commitment to education in those values, has followed me the rest of my life. This has meant spending the last several years relentlessly pursuing a better understanding of the foundation of conservative ideals, as well as educating myself in liberal and leftist pursuits. During that initial period of research, my once family-funded beliefs turned into deep-rooted convictions and a desire to educate others. I currently work at a Pregnancy Resource Center in Northern Virginia as our Client Services Director. I took this job in the Fall of 2021 because it was time to take my weekend passion for the unborn and make it my full-time career. My experience was eye-opening. I have always been passionate and well-versed in pro-life talking points and could defend my pro-life position incredibly well, even under considerable duress. But, after sitting down face-to-face with the women struggling with pregnancy decisions, my perspective shifted. While I remain staunchly pro-life, I got a peak behind the curtain at the people who are truly struggling with a monumental decision, and my heart for this issue grew even more. While I will be sad to say goodbye to such a life-giving ministry, I know that it’s time to take on a new challenge. I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Creative Writing. When I wasn’t in class, I was working in local restaurants, or teaching creative writing to middle school and high school students after school. Post-graduation, I moved back to Reston, Virginia and was later employed with Carahsoft Technology Corporation, as a VMware Account Manager. This job threw me headfirst into a corporate environment and a field of work I had no prior experience. Not only did I take on my new job quickly, but I ran with it and excelled almost immediately. Whether it be nine years in the service industry, two years facilitating multi-million-dollar software purchases, or one-year counseling young women through difficult pregnancy decisions, I know there is always something new to be learned. I am excited to see where my love for writing and passion for politics will intersect and what new hurdles I will navigate along the way.
