To whom it may concern, After spending 7 months in the nation’s capital and the subsequent summer, my drive to look for solutions concerning issues that affect us the most only deepened. I am confident in my ability to contribute effectively to your office with hands-on experience in political communication and a proven track record in policy research, within my capacities through various professional experiences, complemented by my participation in The Fund For American Studies D.C. Summer Internship Program. My congressional internship with the Office of Rep. Jeff Van Drew provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the legislative process, constituent casework, and the intricate workings of federal agencies. Notably, I successfully completed the office's semester Capstone project, taking it upon myself to persuade the Congressman to co- sponsor the Border Safety & Security Act, a key piece of legislation that would directly benefit southern states that face an unprecedented influx of illegal migrants. Having worked closely with his staff, I had the privilege of gaining a deep understanding of policies among other areas as he served on the House Committee on Homeland Security and House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Subsequently, my summer as a Commentary Fellow at the Washington Examiner allowed me to further hone my writing and copyediting skills, producing insightful commentary on carefully chosen policy topics with a deep focus on both Congress and state-level politics. This experience equipped me with the ability to summarize and evaluate reports & publications effectively while enhancing my ability to navigate complex topics and distill them into clear, compelling narratives. As a participant in The Fund For American Studies Summer Internship Program, I further enhanced my understanding of economic policy and political communication, engaging with professionals across various fields. My visits to Capitol Hill, interactions with diplomats and federal officials at Embassies and Executive departments, and coursework at George Mason University's Department of Economics equipped me with a holistic perspective on government affairs and public policies, aided by the organization’s deep- rooted conservative principles. Having worked closely with the Communications Director at Rep. Beth Van Duyne’s office this summer has helped me gained a deeper insight into economic messaging as she serves on the House Committee on Ways and Means and the House Committee on Small Business, furthering my understanding of political communication through alternative realms. My diverse background, encompassing political communication, congressional affairs, and exposure to public policies, positions me as a candidate with a wide-ranged skill set stemming from the intense world of Capitol Hill to the fast-paced newsroom of the Washington Examiner. I would like to thank you for your time and consideration.
