I come from a family of educators and a family of service. My Father is a Policeman turned Teacher and later Principal, my Mother teaches Special Needs Children. Education is the family business of the Allers household. I tried to fight it, taking jobs in the food industry, the financial sector, and in the field of Politics-my other passion. But I truly wanted to make a difference and impact the future. I decided to complete my degree in Elementary Education-from James Madison University and finishing up at Mary Baldwin University, without taking out a student loan or a dime from anyone. I first became a preschool teacher in rural Orange County,Virginia, where I saw firsthand the struggles of affording childcare for young parents just trying to get by. I then taught 4th and 5th grade further south in Petersburg, where I saw the direct inequities in the Virginia school system and their disproportionate impact on children of color. While in Petersburg, I advocated for my kids and worked with the School Board to fix up a run-down playground and make it safer for students in an area plagued with crime. Today, I teach in Northern Virginia. While on the surface the region seems to offer more access to a better way of life, I have seen up close the devastating effects of COVID-19 on my students’ social and academic well being. I have realized I have to go beyond the classroom in order to make an impact on the Education System. I served on VA-10’s Congressional Candidate Aliscia Andrews’ Education Task Force to steer Education Policy. I ran for office on new ideas that would reform education in Virginia. I came up short, but that does not stop me. There is more work to do. In addition to my position as a Teacher, I am a journalist and Political activist, and Operative. In October 2019, I joined center-right blog Bearing Drift in hopes of bringing in a new, millennial-driven perspective. Working with the site, I also started the podcast, Grand New Podcast, to not only interview Virginia’s movers and shakers, but also create conversations between those with different views, including figures from both parties. I also covered the hard news in my community cutting my teeth in the Northern Virginia local online-based circulation, The Potomac Local. I was proud to serve as Lt. Governor Winsome Sears’ Press Secretary during the campaign- championing and crafting and representing a Conservative Agenda for Virginia. I am currently an educator in Maryland and a Conservative Columnist for The Spirit of Jefferson, a local paper in Charles Town, West Virginia. I wear many hats. I feel I would be a necessary and welcome addition to the team. I am a self-starter and a passionate advocate. My unique life path has prepared me for this role. I am ready to get to work and work hard.
I'm open to it.
