To Whom It May Concern, I am interested in exploring employment opportunities with your organization. Accordingly, I have provided a copy of my resume for your review. As you will notice, I possess considerable experience in the Information Technology and Accounting industries, having been employed cumulatively in those sectors for over two decades; however, despite a rewarding and successful career as an IT professional and as an accountant, at this juncture I am exploring employment opportunities wherein my interests in national politics, the legislative process and public policy formulation can be utilized to their fullest potential. Over the course of my career, I have been employed in an extensive variety of IT- and accounting-related roles and capacities, from college professor teaching basic computer theory and application usage to help desk team member/manager, systems analyst/administrator, technical writer/trainer, relational database designer/developer, business process analyst and project manager. On the accounting front, I am currently employed in a contractual capacity as an Accountant with the Harris County, TX Community Services Division where I help manage a five billion dollar HUD grant. Additionally, I’ve been employed in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, including contractual assignments with the Departments of Defense and Justice, the Embassy of Australia, the Executive Office of The President (of the United States), The White House Technology Transition Team and the Center for Naval Analysis. I was also employed for seven years as a Senior Engineer with Qwest Communications where I managed weekend data circuit installation and activation operations for customers throughout the continental United States. Academically, I possess degrees in Information and Telecommunications Systems (MS, Johns Hopkins University), Finance (BS, George Mason University) and Accounting (AAS, Northern Virginia Community College). The temptation is undoubtedly great to assume that there is little, if any, experiential correlation between a career technologist/accountant with strong interests in public policy formulation and a member of your staff; nevertheless, I submit for your consideration that the professional skills and personal attributes required of the former, namely a high degree of personal initiative, good judgment, the ability to work well under minimal supervision either independently or collaboratively in a high-tempo operational environment, in addition to strong analytical, organizing, critical reasoning, communications and time-management skills, are equally applicable and well-suited to the latter. Should your organization require the services of an individual with my experience, education and abilities, please feel free to contact me at your convenience. Regards, Michael W. Keister
