As my work history suggests, I’ve gained a wide range of experience as a writer, editor and communications professional, including stints in news and public affairs and more than a decade in media relations on behalf of clients from California to Kansas and beyond. In addition to various writing, editing and reporting positions, I served the late U.S. Sens. John McCain and Fred Thompson during their presidential bids in 2007-2008 and first cut my teeth in independent politics in 2012 with Americans Elect, the first national online presidential primary. Since then, I've worked two cycles with independent candidate Greg Orman in Kansas, where his 2014 U.S. Senate campaign gained national attention. In 2016, I worked as a press advance lead for the Trump-Pence campaign and later served in the administration as a senior advisor to U.S. Commerce Sec. Wilbur Ross in the Office of Public Affairs. I’ve also held legislative positions in state government and with the U.S. House and Senate in Washington, D.C., and through roles as a journalist I’m the fourth generation of my family to have worked in the news business in my native state of Kentucky. Taken together, these experiences have provided important learning opportunities in a variety of diverse settings, and I’m ready to put my skill set to work on behalf of your organization. Thank you for your consideration and let me know if I can provide any additional information.
