Hello, I hope your day is going well so far! I am greatly interested in this position and believe my qualities and passion for finance and organizing make me a qualified candidate and a potential key component of your team. Throughout my career, I’ve had many experiences in finance and political organizing that contributed to my professional growth. Moving to Iowa to work on a presidential campaign allowed me to expand my organizing skill set by working with an incredible team in a state that was entirely new to me. I became comfortable with being outside of my comfort zone and learned how to more effectively engage with the communities I was in despite being completely new to the area. With Organizing Together 2020 and the Biden Coordinated Campaign, I was to be a part of two teams that were on the forefront of digital organizing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Conventional in-person organizing plans had to be entirely digitized. This allowed myself and the teams I was on to learn how to best utilize online programs to engage our communities. With STG Results and John Lira’s Congressional campaign, I was able to use the knowledge I had acquired through political organizing and expand upon my financial skillset. Within these roles I was directly responsible for general fundraising activities, managing donor relationships, searching for sponsorships and other related opportunities, coordinating fundraising events, and so much more. These experiences have led me to grow my skills that are directly related to this role. I’m looking for the next step in my career through my experiences in both finance and political organizing. My career so far, in both political organizing and finance, has given me many opportunities to grow and thrive as a manager. I’ve managed either assistants, interns, or volunteers in almost every occupation I’ve worked since graduating high school. Most recently, as Finance Director for Lira for Congress, I had to not just manage the campaign’s finances, but also manage three Assistant Call Time Managers the campaign had hired. Managing not just the campaign’s daily fundraising activities, but also a team of assistants, can be challenging, but it is also very rewarding. Even though you’re responsible for creating a finance plan, setting goals, maintaining donor relationships, planning fundraising events, and more, you still have to set aside enough time to check in with the rest of the finance team and make sure you set them up for success as well. Raising money, whether for a Congressional campaign or a solar company (like I did with STG Results), requires the work of so many people and I am very thankful to have worked with such great teams.
